I love this metaphor for embracing our imperfections and challenging experiences. The Japanese philosophy of Kintsugi honors life experiences whether good or bad by highlighting the repair to make the object even more beautiful and unique.
This reminded me of my Dad who takes great care to painstakingly repair broken vases or sculptures. Perhaps it is his instinct as a surgeon to repair things, but I always found the object more appealing after its repair - even if it was just with glue.
While I know I am deeply blessed, life has been a rough ride at times for me, and I'm sure for you as well.
Life experiences can temporarily break us, but it's nice to know that we have the potential to gain more grace and style after the healing process.
